28 Sept - Babylonian-style base 60 multiplication table for the number forty-five

Note that the ";" represents the "sexagesimal point". That is, anything after this symbol represents the 60ths, 3600ths, etc.

Five pairs of numbers that multiply to forty-five:

4           11;15    (4 * 11.25)

3,0         0;15    (180 * 0.25)

50,0         0;54    (50 * 0.9)

7;30       6         (7.5 * 6)

0;36      1,15     (0.6* 75)

  1. Good work, and good, concise explanations of your thinking, Marius! I'm just not quite convinced of the first one in the list. I don't think you'd have a fraction (base 60) of 60! Can you re-think this one and correct it?

  2. Please do have another look at the first one on the list, and let me know how you would correct it!

  3. There's a problem with the way you've written the third one now: following the notation you've used throughout, 50,0 --> 50x60 = 3000. You'd need to drop the comma and the zero. But generally, you've had fun with some cool fractions, so good work overall.
